DeActivate Gym Anxiety

If you’ve joined a health club or fitness center but still feel weary about getting into action, fear not! It’s completely normal to have some hesitations when trying something new. Here are some ideas to help ease you through those first few months.
Partner with a friend: Creating a support system is a wise way to ensure consistency.
Stick with what’s comfortable: Use machines that you are already comfortable with to keep your motivation and confidence high. Gradually ease into the process of trying new machines and ask for help when needed.
Take classes: Most gyms offer a variety of different classes for all fitness levels. It’s nice to have an instructor guide you through your entire workout, while enjoying fun music and the company of others.
Be open and friendly: The gym is a fantastic way to meet people and network. Making friends and seeing familiar faces at the gym is a surefire way to ease anxiety.
• Utilize the gym staff: The people that work at a gym are there to help you, so let them! Ask for advice, directions or guidance on any aspect of your exercise experience and you’re sure to learn something new.

The benefits of regular gym workouts will help shape and mold not just physical features, but the mind as well. At the end of the day, most people attend the gym for the same reason: to get fit and stay healthy. Forget about what everyone else is doing or thinking and focus on yourself; the results can be quite surprising if you do. And remember, you attend the gym for you, and no one else.
