Benefits of Sweating
Simply put, everyone sweats. Perspiration can be caused by a multitude of reasons like: genetics, anxiety, high temperatures and also exertion from exercise. All humans are born with about 2-4 million sweat glands, but most of them are not very active until we approach puberty. How much one sweats depends largely on how many sweat glands they have as well as their body's own unique chemistry. Interestingly, women tend to have more sweat glands than men, but men's tend to be more active, so they usually sweat the most.
One of the greatest health benefits about this process is while your body is trying to cool down, your heart actually starts to pump and work harder to increase circulation. This improves your cardiovascular system. Sweating also benefits the human body by detoxifying itself. The body is able to remove toxic materials by sweating them out through the pores. Some of these toxic wastes are an accumulation of things like sodium, heavy metals, cholesterol, alcohol, and nicotine. In addition to this, sweat also clears bacteria out of surface layers of the skin and from the sweat ducts. The process of sweating even helps improve circulation from the blood vessels dilating, and gives the skin a fresh look and feel.
On a small scale, sweating can burn calories and improve cardiovascular activity. When this happens, energy is required and in turn speeds the heart rate, which causes the body to burn calories.
This process is a natural and necessary mechanism that occurs on its own. If you’re concerned about your level of sweating, try to keep in mind the great benefits that come with it. Everybody sweats and there is nothing to be ashamed of. Plus, stressing will just make you sweat more. Just don’t forget to stay hydrated!
